April 1994 saw them play Swansea City in the Autoglass Trophy Final. This was the club's first visit to Wembley since the 1938 FA Cup Final. Town lost on penalties, with one of the Swansea penalty scorers being Kwame Ampadu father of Wales & Chelsea player Ethan. The following season The Terriers were back at Wembley again, beating Bristol Rovers in the Playoff Final to win promotion to Division 1.
