Roma's Giallorossi colours represent the purple-red cloaks and golden armour of Roman soldiers and have long been used on the official seal of the city. In 1927 the club were founded by the merging of three Rome based teams by the Facist Party of Italy to provide strong competition for the large northern clubs from the capital. However, being the inner-city team opposed to the region-named Lazio their working class supporters have given the club strong socialist support from the Curva Sud. Roma often wear white away colours with black, orange or yellow alternate colours.
