Pirlo is known as the free-kick specialist, with an exceptional vision, ball control and passing ability. As a deep lying playmaker he is regarded as the greatest player to play in this position. Nicknamed l'architetto ("the Architect"), he could predict the game or control it to his will. Winning an exceptional amount of league titles and cups throughout his career, it is no wonder he became the fourth most capped Italian player, with 115 caps to his name. He is one of the few players who can make the game look so effortless and beautiful – something you don't see very often, a true superstar.
