Frenkie started his professional career in 2015 with Willem II having spent 10 years part of their youth setup. On August 22nd, 2015 Ajax signed De Jong on a four year deal for a symbolic €1 fee. Frenkie de Jong went on to make 57 appearances for Ajax before Barcelona made an approach. de Jong signed a five year deal, effective from July 1st, 2019 with Barcelona for a reported fee of €75m.
