The New Portugal Home Shirt for the Euro 2012 Tournament is another move toward the retro, a recurring motif among the Euro 2012 Shirts. Gone is the green plate that traversed the chest of the last Portugal World Cup Shirt. The only green is reserved for the collar trim and just above the sleeve cuffs, resulting in a simple yet elegant look that is timeless, and has been compared to the Portugal Retro Shirts of the Lisbon Lions of the 60's. The kit is completed with red shorts and socks, all available through Subside Sports. The Portugal Away Shirt in white bears more adornment than the home, another recurring theme among the Euro 2012 Kits. Spanning the breadth of the front is a striking cross in green and red, the two colours of the Portuguese flag, creating a linear interpretation of the national symbol and team crest. White shorts and white socks complete the Portugal Away Kit.

Portugal's best Euro and International effort came in 2004 when a squad that included Luís Figo, Rui Costa, Nuno Gomes and a then 19-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo were the runners up to Greece. With Cristiano Ronaldo now in his prime and joined by Manchester United's Nani, Portugal now set their sites on surpassing their 2004 achievement and hoisting the coveted Euro trophy, but to do so they'll have to survive group B, the toughest group in the tournament. Cristiano Ronaldo, a player with numerous club team accolades and seemingly endless ability, has made little impact in his last two international tournaments, so look for him to come up big for his nation this summer in Poland and Ukraine.
