The Germany Euro Shirt: Germany Away Shirt Goes Retro
The new Germany Kit for the Euro 2012 has been one of the most talked-about kits of the tournament. The Germany Home Shirt in DFB's traditional white is sleek and boldly understated in its design. It bears little in the way of decor aside from its sublimated team crest and the three colours from the national flag, black, red, and gold, presented in thin diagonal stripes across the torso. It's accompanied by black shorts and white socks, all of which are available from Subside Sports. While this will be Germany's principle strip for the European Finals, it's the Away Kit that fans of Die Mannschaft are hoping to see in action. Germany's first green shirt since 2001, the new Germany Away Shirt for the Euro 2012 is clearly an hommage to Germany's glory days of yesteryear and the away kits worn by such giants are Franz Beckenbauer and Gerd Müller. Like the classic 1970's Germany Away Shirts, this green away shirt uses white trim for its collar and sleeve cuffs. The inside of the collar bears the text 1972 der Beginn einer Erfolgsgeschichte. 2012 ein neues Kapitel wartet darauf, geschrieben zu werden!: "1972 the beginning of a success story, 2012 a new chapter waiting to be written!" White shorts and green socks complete the kit, which again, Subside Sports is proud to offer.
Germany is one of the most successful national teams in the history of the game. Their victory at the Euro tournament in 1972 referenced in the away shirt's inscription ushered in an era that included the victories at the 1974 World Cup, 1980 Euro, 1990 World Cup, and 1996 Euro. In the 2010 World Cup, with a very young team, to much surprise they went deep into the tournament, finishing 3rd. Now, two years later and with more experience, stars like Philipp Lahm, Lukas Podolski, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Sami Khedira, Per Mertesacker, Mesut Özil, Sami Khedira, and Mario Götze are ready to make another run for an international title. With such a wealth of talent, 2012 may mark the first chapter in new success story for this historic federation.
